During 1999, the main efforts of the GRAND MASTER'S WORK PROJECT were concentrated in partnership with Lexington/Henderson County HFH. In support of the 1999 GMWP, our West Tennessee brethren and our Masonic family helped the other 8 West Tennessee HFH affiliates build houses "in partnership with God's people in need."

The1999 GRAND MASTER's WORK PROJECT house was built in partnership with Lexington/Henderson County Habitat for Humanity, a non profit [501(c)(3)] corporation, founded in 1997 and run by a local all volunteer board of directors. For more information about this affiliate, please contact Executive Director Brian Williams at 901-967-0853.

Our Masonic family sponsored and built a 4 bedroom house for a family of 5 (Linda Smith, one of her children and 3 grandchildren she's raising). Linda works at a local retirement home and is in charge of dietary services.

Linda and her extended family had been living in an old, deteriorated part house-part mobile home. The house sustained considerable tornado damage in January 1999 and additional wind storm damage in May 1999. The roof was patched with sheet plastic and old tires! Please click here for a photo of the old house.

The new house was framed on Saturday June 19. Work continued through the summer and the house was completed and dedicated on September 12, 1999.

This house was built and and dedicated in memory of Logan Tollison, Grandson of Past Grand Master Alton Tollison, who passed away in April 1997 after a long battle with Cancer, and Ashley Barham and Dennis Barham, Grandchildren of Past Grand Master 'Tex' Tisdale, who died in a boating accident in August 1997.
