After framing the house and completing the utility rough-ins, dry wall was hung and finished.
On Saturday May 6, Brother Glen Porter and others painted the interior walls, ceilings and trim work. The front porch was also built.
On Wednesday May 10 and Thursday May 11, Brothers Charlie Williamson and David Daniel hung the interior doors, installed the baseboards and additional interior trim. Saturday May 13 was also a good work day. Kitchen cabinets and floor underlayment were also installed. Nail holes were patched and trim painting was completed. The kitchen is shown in the photo at right.
On Friday May 19, Brother Glenn Doscher (Mt. Juliet Lodge #642) donated and installed the vinyl flooring. On Saturday May 20, Brothers Ricky Stewart
and Clarence Dickens (also of Mt. Juliet Lodge) installed closet shelves and door hardware. Brother Charles Williamson (Goodlettsville Lodge #271) also completed the final trim carpentry. During the following week, the plumbing fixtures were set.
On Saturday May 27, Brothers Tim Gerrard and Charlie Smith, both Past Masters of Joppa Lodge #411, (shown in the photo at left) installed the HVAC system. Other touch up work was done.
On Tuesday May 30, Brother Bennie Watkins (Lebanon Lodge #98) finished the electrical work in preparation for the final inspection; power will be supplied to the house shortly after the inspection is complete. On Wednesday May 31, Brother Ronnie Greeer (also of Lebanon Lodge) dug and installed the water and sewer lines. Also, Brother John Crowder (Mount Juliet Lodge#642) delivered topsoil for the lawn.
During the week, the attic was insulated and carpet installed.
On Saturday June 2, Brother Mark Hampton and other brethren from John B. Garrett Lodge #711 smooth over the topsoil, spread grass seed and straw on the lawn. They also planted shrubs and trees and did other landscaping work. The finished house is shown in the photo at right--ready for its dedication which was held on Sunday June 4--2 years to the date, that a ground breaking was held for the first (1998) Grand Master's Work Project house. |
