On April 26, 2000, the Tennessee general assembly announced a $5 million plan to sponsor and build a HFH in each of Tennessee's 99 house districts--33 a year over a 3 year period. Each house build will receive a $30,000 grant throught this program. 2/3 of the grant will come from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) the remaining 1/3 will come from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati--the funds will be adminstered locally by Union Planter's Banks across Tennessee. A typical HFH house costs $38,000 to build--local affiliates and representatives will help raise the balance of the money needed to build each house. This program is aptly named THE HOUSE THE ASSEMBLY BUILT.

Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by MIllard and Linda Fuller. Millard has served continuously as president and CEO since that time. Ever since beginning our VISION 2013-HFH partnership in 1996, Millard has been most supportive and appreciative of our efforts, and has spoken to other groups about our program and urged other fraternal organizations to get involved with HFH as we have done.

On April 26, Millard visited Nashville to help launch THE HOUSE THE ASSEMBLY BUILT effort. After a morning press conference and lunch with General Assembly leaders, he spoke at St. Mary's Church to a large crowd of HFH affiliate leaders and homeowners from across the state. Among those attending were Grand Master K. I. Wright, GMWP Director Brother Tom Boduch and his wife Betty, Grand Secretary Alvin Hill and VISION 2013 coordinator Brother Alan Smith.

After his presentation, Grand Master K. I. Wright met and visited with Millard. Millard again expressed his appreciation for our work. Grand Master K. I. Wright is shown in the photo at right presenting Millard with a 2000 GMWP T Shirt.
