2001 GMWP Pin

A dedication ceremony for the 2001 GMWP house was held on Tuesday May 8, 2001, just prior to the annual District 19 Meeting. The District Meeting was held at the Roane County High School Cafeteria which is located across the street from the house!

Shown in the photo below, on the front porch are (from left to right) Grand Master Esco Owens, Homeowners Paul, Darlene and Jeremy McElroy, (in the background) Rev. Glen Moore (the McElroy's Pastor), Amanda McElroy, Junior Grand Warden Richard Durham, and Past Grand Master (current Grand Treasurer and founder of the VISION 2013 Movement) Tom Hager.

A crowd of nearly 100 Masons, Guests and HABITAT Volunteers gathered at the house for the deciation. Grand Chaplain Roane County HFH President, (and GMWP Director), Brother Tom Boduch welcomed everyone. He mentioned that this house was the 5th house sponsored and built by Masons in just 3 years, and the 25th house built by Roane County Habitat for Humanity. Grand Chaplain, R. W. Brother Rev. Walter Brookshire (see photo at right) then began the ceremony with a very moving prayer.

Brother Boduch then recognized the many volunteers who prepared the site and framed and finished the house. Roane County HFH Vice-President Rev. Doug Hall, then invited anyone present to share a memory of their involvement with building the house. Rev. Hall mentioned that his Grandfather was a very active Freemason and he was grateful for not only the sponsorship of the 2001 GMWP house, but for the numerous Masonic Charities which make a difference in our world each and every day.

Brother Boduch then stated that it is traditional at Roane HFH dedications to do Scripture Readings, and that the readers are individuals who had a major role in building the house.

Tom Hager The 3 readers at this dedication were those who had a major role in starting and operating the VISION 2013 movement.

The First reader was M.W. Brother Tom Hager. While serving as Grand Master in 1994, he started VISION 2013. He is shown in the photo at left, while Roane County HFH Vice-President, Rev. Doug Hall, looks on.

The second reader was M. W. Brother Charles Eads. Brother Eads served as Grand Master in 1995, and was instrumental in getting VISION 2013 implemented. He also is shown in the photo at left.

Brother Boduch then recognized the subsequent Past Grand Masters who continued VISION 2013--M. W. Brothers Alton Tollison, John Palmer, Walter Wininger, John Vincent and K. I. Wright.

The Third reader was Grand Secretary

Charles Eads
Al Hill
R. W. Brother Luther A. Hill (shown in the photo above). Brother Boduch expressed his appreciation to Brother Hill and the Grand Lodge staff for helping coordinate statewide VISION 2013 programs.

Brother Boduch then introduced Grand Master Esco Owens, who presented the McElroy family with a Bible (photo below left) and the key to their new home (photo below right).

Rev. Moore The McElroys then expressed their appreciation for all the hard work that went in to the building of their new home and thanked everyone present. Rev. Doug Hall then led everyone in a Prayer of Blessing for the home. The McElroy's Pastor, Rev. Glen Moore (Pastor of the Post Oak Church of Christ in Rockwood--shown in the photo at right), after a few remarks, gave a closing benediction. Afterward, everone walked across the street for a most enjoyable meal and District 19 meeting.
