2003 GMWP Pin
Framed Construction of the 2003 GMWP house was begun in early September 2003. The footings were dug by Eric Blysted and septic system installed by Waymer King. George Blocker built the foundation on September 13, 2003. The sub-floor was installed and walls framed by a Ronnie George (a local contractor) who donated the services of his framing crew. The progress made is shown in the photo at left taken Saturday morning September 20.

Trusses A large group of volunteers were present for the September 20 work day. Leading the crew was Centerville Lodge #618 Junior Deacon Brother Terry Pinkerton. Also present was Grand Sword Bearer (and Hickman HFH Family Selection Committee member) Brother J. Ray Owens, Brother Pee Wee Kelley, Brother Andy James (252), GMWP director Brother Tom Boduch (038) accompanied by Roane County HFH homeowner Melvin Blake, Sister Breda Lee, several other members of Centerville's OES Chapter and future homeowners, the Carter family.

Terry Trusses were set in the morning. Workers are shown in the photo at right sliding trusses on top of the house. In the photo at left Brothers Terry Pinkerton (left) and Tom Boduch (right) set the first truss in place J while future homeonwer (see photo at right) Marty Carter (left) and Brother J. Ray Owens (right) prepare temporary truss braces.

By noon the trusses were all set and the everyone broke for lunch. A lunch was prepared by OES Sisters and served at the Nunnley Community center, a short distance from the building site.

Before eating, a brief devotional was held. Sign BOF Brother Tom Boduch mentioned that the next day (Sunday September 21) would be HABITAT's 2003 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND ACTION--the culmination of HABITAT's 2003 BUILDING ON FAITH WEEK, and that working a house was the best way to celebrate that special day. A prayer was then offered by Brother J. Ray Owens. (For more information on Building on Faith Week, please click on the grahic at right).

After lunch, everyone returned to the building site. Roof decking was installed on the back half of the house.

Another work day was held on Saturday September 27. Leading the volunteers was Brother Terry Pinkerton. The work crew consistsed of Brenda Lee, Brothers Tom Boduch, Andy James, Danny James (548), the Carter Family and several members of Centerville's Eastern Star Chapter.

Grand Ronnie Grand Master Ronald Coates accomanied by Junior Grand Deason, W. Brother John Wayne Stricklin (173) stopped by the building site. They were enroute to dedicate the new Lodge Hall of Iron Lodge #503. Show in the photo at left (from left to right) are Brena Lee, Brother Terry Pinkerton, Grand Master Coates, Brother Andy James and Brother Stricklin.

While the work crew continued decking the roof, lunch was served by Brother Ronnie Bell (618) who fried fish in the house's future kitchen (see photo at right). OES

Meanwhile, members of Centerville's Eastern Star Chapter (see photo at left), prepared a desert table in the house's future dining room!

Vinyl Work continued on roof decking after lunch. Once completed, the electrical rough in was done by Brother Andy and Danny James, Tom Boduch and Terry Pinkerton.

On Sunday afternoon September 28, the roof shingling was begun. Work days to complete shingling and begin vinyl siding were held on October 4, 11 and 18. Shown in the photo at right (on the walk board from left to right) are Brothers Terry Pinkerton and Pee Wee Kelley. Standing on the ground (from left to right) are brothers Andy James and Grand Sword Bearer Brother J. Ray Owens.

J Front Vinyl siding installation continued on Saturday October 25. Shown in the photo at left bending metal facia are Grand Sword Bearer Brother J. Ray Owens and Brenda Lee. The front of the house is shown in the photo at right at the end of the work day.
