On Saturday, Cleveland HFH Construction Supervisor Jerry Franitza, Past President Bob Sain and Brothers Rob Shipman (shown in photo at right) and Tom Boduch installed the floor decking. At the same time, another house was underconstruction on an adjoining lot. This house is being built by the R.V. Care-a-Vanners. During the week of October 18,
On Saturday, GMWP Director Brother Tom Boduch, Brother Jem Hames (Past Master Pickens Star Lodge #220 Jasper, Georgia and Brother Shipman completed the remaining 2 exterior and all the interior wall sections. Brother Hames is shown in the photo at left laying out wall sections, while Brother Shipman cuts wall plates.
Brother Jamey Taylor (PM 484) stopped by the site to meet with Cleveland HFH's electrical supervisor Brother Charles Bolick (a Kentucky Mason). Brother Jamey and his crew will be wiring the 2004 GMWP house. 2 other members of Charleston Lodge #484, Brothers Travis Olinger and Matt Mullinax (owners of the local SHAKE SHAK restaurant) donated lunch. Progress on the house is shown in the photo at right at taken at the end of the work day.
That same evening, Cleveland HFH held a farewell dinner for the Care-a-Vanners who had had spent 2 very productive weeks with the affiliate. GMWP director Brother Tom Boduch attended the event and thanked the Care-a-Vanners for their help.
On Saturday November, 6 Brothers Taylor and Brown returned to continue wiring the house, while Brothers Rob Shipman, Jem Hames and Tom Boduch assisted by a group of 20 students from Lee University installed vinyl siding. Several students assisted Brothers Taylor and Brown, while others built the front porch--see photo at right.
Grand Master Richard Durham Sr. stopped by the building site and is shown in the photo at right. He praised and thanked all the workers for their efforts. The front porch was completed and all the vinyl siding installed with 30 minutes of daylight to spare! Brothers Taylor, Shipman and Boduch (back row left) are shown in the photo at left with the group of Lee University students who had spent all day at the building site.
The house is shown at the end of the work day in the photo at right. Over the next few weeks Brother Ronnie Blaylock (114) will rough-in the plumbing. The heat and air conditioning system will also be roughed in. The house will be insulated and sheetrock hung and finished. The next work days will take place in late November or early December and will consist of painting and other finish work. | |
