Whitesburg, Tennessee The following is a copy of the Dispensation that was issued by Most Worshipful John C. Brown, Grand Master of Tennessee, to the Brethren that requested a Dispensation to establish Kyle Lodge in Whitesburg, Hamblen County, Tennessee: SIT LUX ET LUX FUIT Know Ye, the We, John C. Brown Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Tennessee having received from a constitutional number of Brethren, who have been properly vouched for as Master Masons in good standing, setting forth, that with honor and prosperity of the Craft at heart, they are desirous of establishing a new lodge at Whitesburg, Hamblen Co., under our jurisdiction, and requesting a Dispensation for the same. And, Whereas, there appears to us good and sufficient cause for granting the prayer of said Petition, we, by virtue of the power us vested in the Ancient Constitutions of the Order, do grant this our DISPENSATION, empowering Brother P.A. Cobb to act as Worshipful Master, Brother A.W. Thompson to act as Senior Warden, and Brother Fred Pangle to act as Junior Warden of a Lodge to be held under our jurisdiction at Whitesburg in the County of Hamblen by the name of Kyle Lodge No. 422. And We further Authorize the said Brethren to ENTER, PASS, and RAISE Freemasons according to the Ancient Constitutions of the customs and usages of the Craft, and the Rules and Regulations of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Tennessee, and not otherwise. AND THIS OUR DISPENSATION shall continue of force until the next Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge, or shall be revoked by authority of said Grand Lodge.
