Since beginning operations in 1991, our dedicated volunteers have built 30 houses in Roane County.  We are located about 30 miles west of Knoxville, in East Tennessee.
1992  Roane County HFH began building its first house in Rockwood in October 1992. The house was completed by Christmas. Roane County HFH became one of the few affiliates to complete a house in its first year as an affiliate. The house was a 3 bedroom house for a single mother with 2 children.
1993  A 2 bedroom house was built in Kingston and a 4 bedroom house in Harriman.
1994  Roane County HFH participated in a blitz build in partnership with the Holston Valley United Methodist Conference. A 3 bedroom house was built on Webster Pike in Harriman in 4 days! A second 3 bedroom house was also built south of Kingston.

1997  The house begun in 1996 was completed and 3 additional houses were built, all on Park Place in the Brown-Ellis Subdivision.
1998  Roane HFH began to develop its first sub-division, by purchasing 3 acres of land located between Spring and Fisher Streets in Kingston. The property will yield 10 homes sites, and is located across the street from the Roane County High School Cafeteria and next to Union Lodge #38 (Kingston Masonic Lodge). A 2 bedroom house was built at 522 West Spring Street.
1999  A 4 bedroom house was built at 244 White Road in the Big Emory region of Harriman. A 3 bedroom house was also built at 526 West Spring Street in the HOPE Sub-Division in Kingston. Additionally, Roane HFH purchased a new sub-division in Rockwood and named it the FAITH sub-division. It is located on Molyneux Avenue (North Kingston Ave), and is located just past and across the street from the Rockwood Methodist Church. 3 homes will be built in this sub-division. Drs. E. Craig Beard and Carolyn Beard also donated 2 building lots located on Skyline View Drive in Midtown.

2000Tinker House    A 3 bedroom house was built on one of the lots that Drs. Beard donated to Roane HFH in 1999. This house was sponsored by Sandy Hamlett and her friends. For the past several years, Sandy has been the #1 individual fund raiser in our annual walk-a-thon and has raised enough money to sponsor a house on her own. The house is shown in the photo at left.

Seghers Another 3 bedroom house was built at 115 Fisher Street in the HOPE sub-division in Kingston. This house was sponsored and built by the 1st Baptist Church of Kingston and is shown in the photo at right. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL designates the third Sunday in September as an annual DAY OF PRAYER AND ACTION. The preceding week is designated as BUILDING ON FAITH WEEK. During Building on Faith Week 2000, HFHI will complete and dedicate its 100,000th house world wide. Our 22nd (and 23rd houses--both of which were completed ahead of schedule) helped meet the goal of 100,000 houses by the year 2000.

Bowman In April 2000, the Tennessee General Assembly passed a joint resolution to sponsor and build a HFH house in each of the state's 99 House Districts--this program is called the HOUSES THE ASSEMBLY BUILT. 33 houses per year will be build over a 3 year time period. Roane HFH was selected to receive a grant in 2000 for house District 32. A 2 bedroom house was built on the second lot donated by Drs. Beard in partnership with Representative Dennis Ferguson.
